NON COMMON RAIL VEHICLE TUNING USING A SYNERGY 4.

The long lived Range Rover P38 benefits greatly from a Synergy 4 (vp) as this owner commented:"Hiya Ron got my box 02/02 fitted it 03/02 I've furred a few so called " super chip" boxs in my time and they are shall we say ok, put your module on my 97 p38 all I can say is holy sh*t, didn't realise my brakes were that bad. A million thanks to you and will be telling every one to fit a "Ronbox".Some P38s suffer from difficult hot starting due to injection pump wear. Our new Synergy 4 HSF uses hardware & software modifictions to increase the fuelling for 20seconds after the ignition is turned on to enable hot starting easier. NB it is not a cure for a worn pump, its just a starting aid.
We recommend the optional square pushbutton switch for the Synergy 4 if towing as the eco mode can be used most of the time and the button pressed for extra torque.
The later Range Rover TD6 (BMW straight 6 engine) can be transformed by a Synergy 2 which plugs into the fuel rail & maf sensor or a Synergy 3 if your maf sensor has been replaced recently. The 2.2, 2.7 & 3L V6 Range Rovers INCLUDING the Evoque go very well with a Synergy 3 which is easy to fit. (not Ingenium engine models)The Synergy 2 and 3 can use the optional 3 position switch to give eco, off and sport settings while driving.
  • INTRODUCTION. Available for most non common rail cars, vans and VW motorhomes
The few companies still making non common rail tuning boxes want £350-400 for theirs but they don't work as well as our SUPERB 2-channel SYNERGY 4b which is less than a third the cost.
There is one cable that plugs into the map (or MAF) sensor and then, depending on the make and model, a second cable for the injection pump or two wires to hardwire where we cannot get the pump connectors (L200/Pagero/300tdi & P38, Rover 200/400/600sdi).
    NEWS
From December 2017, the Synergy 4b became available to help the hot starting issue that afflicts the P38 etc with a worn injection pump. For no extra cost, this new version avoids the need for other devices and does not involve any extra wiring as it does not connect to the coolant temp sensor.

From Jan 19, our V2 version also has a socket for a dash switch which provides an extra torque boost for towing up hill or a quick overtake and from Feb 2020 the V3 version has an additional adjuster for the sport switch effect has been added.

HOT START HELPER. The hot start helper gives extra fuel for the first 20seconds of cranking. Settings 6 & 7 enable this feature and the amount of extra fuel is now adjustable to allow for variations in pump wear.

OFF BOOST ENRICHMENT Three of the 8 settings (3,4,5) now provide adjustable off boost enrichment. This increases the output of worn injection pumps to improve performance when setting off and also means the turbo cuts in lower down the rev range. You can adjust the extra fuelling using the HSF control.

OPTIONAL DASH SWITCH. Lift off the accelerator momentarily before pushing or releasing the button. The extra fuel is now adjustable. For best mpg, leave the button out most of the time.
" IT HAS TRANSFORMED MY DISCO"
    synergy 4
The unit uses the same powerful single chip microcontroller used in the Synergy 1R but in a different configuration and using 2 channels. One to process the map or maf signal and one to control the injection pump.
We don't just use the map or maf signal to activate the box, but also tweak the signal for even better performance where possible.
The photo below shows the controls accessed by removal of the end panel.
You can also plug in the optional eco/sport switch for even more torque - useful when towing up hills and setting off.
Instructions are included but some skill is required to connect the injection pump wires, preferably by soldering on some vehicles. IT REALLY IS WORTH THE EFFORT. We've done a short video showing how the unit connects to the ECU on the Range Rover P38 here.

The Audi, Seat, Skoda,Vw and Volvo versions come with either an 8 or 10-pin injection pump connector, so please check which you need before ordering. The connector can be found in the cable coming from the injection pump and is the size of a pack of 20 cigs with either two rows of 4 or 5 pins. On the Transporter, you need to remove the engine under tray to get to it.
On the other vehicles, two short wires with a 2-pin plug have to be manually connected to the wiring loom either near the injection pump or ECU. This is not difficult if a bit fiddly so take your time. The instructions explain which wires to connect to. Once you have done this, the VP box just plugs in to this plug and to the map sensor and is therefore equally easy to disconnect (no need to disconnect the soldered wires).
PLEASE NOTE THAT THE SYNERGY RED AND BLACK WIRES PIGGYBACK ONTO THE TWO PUMP WIRES.
