Land Rover Defender Security & Immobiliser Repair Service

Is your Land Rover Defender stuck immobilized?
Common triggers for security system failure include:
  • A flat, disconnected, or jump-started vehicle battery
  • Plugging in caravan or trailer lighting
  • System lockouts where the engine cranks briefly then dies
  • The red dash LED staying solid on
  • Zero response from key fobs or EKA code entry
  • Central locking locked out completely
(Note: Most factory ALM black anti-theft units were never programmed with an EKA code from the factory, and a faulty unit will not accept EKA codes regardless).

How It Works

The security control / anti-theft unit is located behind the speaker on the dashboard and is secured by two Torx screws.
You do NOT need to remove the whole dashboard to extract it.
Because these units require vehicle-specific security configuration, we must receive your original unit first.
  • For Repairs: We test and repair your exact box.
  • For Replacement Units: We read and transfer the essential security data from your original unit into our new hardware.
Once returned, your unit is 100% Plug & Play—no diagnostic tools or vehicle programming required on your end.
What to Send Us:
Please mail your original security control box along with ALL key fobs
Service & Replacement Options
1. Security Unit Repair – £210
  • Full Diagnostic Test First: We thoroughly test your unit on the bench. We will contact you with a firm price before carrying out any work.
  • No Fix, No Fee: If the unit is unrepairable, there is no repair charge.
  • Turnaround: Usually 24–48 hours depending on current work loads.
  • Note: A repair fixes existing circuit / software faults but cannot alter the original factory unit's design limitations.
  • We strongly recommend fitting a fresh, high-quality main vehicle battery alongside any repair.

2. Basic Security Bypass Unit – £290

  • Complete System Removal: Ideal for farm, work, or off-road vehicles.
  • Fully removes the alarm, immobiliser, remote central locking, and key fob requirements.
  • Key-Only Operation: The Defender will start directly with just the ignition key.
  • Custom Programmed: We clone the required immobiliser data from your original box so your ECU accepts the bypass seamlessly.

3. Full Function Upgraded Unit – £580

  • Complete OEM Functionality: Retains full alarm, immobiliser, and central locking operations.
  • Includes: 2 x Brand-New Standard Lucas Fobs (Combined "all-in-one" key/fob units available at additional cost).
  • Customisable: Can be configured to your preference (e.g., central locking only, no alarm, no immobiliser).
  • Engineered In-House: Built using our custom UK-designed hardware to eliminate original Land Rover circuit design flaws for 99%+ reliability. Fully guaranteed.

Important Technical & Shipping Notes

  • Do Not Attempt DIY Repairs:
  • We see many units rendered completely unrepairable by previous repair attempts or component swapping. Most failures are software / eeprom corruptions. If a unit has had failed repair attempts by third parties, only a full replacement unit option will be available.
  • No Unit = No Start:
  • Your Defender will not run with the security box simply unplugged or bypassed with jumper wires. The engine ECU requires the matching coded signal from the control unit to allow starting.
  • Check Your Main Battery:
  • The main vehicle battery (under the passenger seat) is critical to this security system. Low voltage creates data corruption. We recommend replacing the main battery every 5 years with a high-grade unit.
